Hanuman was born to Anjana and Kesari. As a child, seeing the rising sun, he mistook it for a ripe fruit and leapt towards it. Indra struck him with his thunderbolt (vajra), hitting his jaw (hanu). Vayu, the wind god and Hanuman's spiritual father, became furious and withdrew all air from the universe. The gods, gasping for breath, pleaded with Vayu and blessed young Hanuman with numerous powers — making him virtually invincible.

The Gayatri Mantra was revealed to the sage Vishwamitra during deep meditation. It is considered the essence of all Vedic wisdom, encapsulating the prayer for divine illumination of the intellect. The mantra is addressed to Savitur, the creative power of the Sun, seeking the light that dispels ignorance. Traditionally, it is chanted at the three sandhyas (junctions of the day) — dawn, noon, and dusk.

Parvati created Ganesh from turmeric paste and breathed life into him, asking him to guard the door while she bathed. When Shiva returned and was denied entry by the boy, a fierce battle ensued, and Shiva severed the boy's head. Seeing Parvati's grief, Shiva sent his ganas to find the head of the first living being facing north. They found a sleeping elephant, and Shiva attached its head to the boy, reviving him. He declared Ganesh the lord of all ganas and the remover of obstacles.
